The Fort

I build a blanket fort in the living room and wait for his return. Inside, I tuck in blankets, our favourite snacks and drinks, and a few pillows. It’s silly, corny—something I should’ve outgrown. But with him, I don’t care. He gives me things I’ve never really had before: love, support, kindness—and the biggest one—acceptance.

I crawl into the little safe haven I’ve made for us and wait, my heart full just thinking about him. Everything about him. His smile that lights up a room. His cute hair curls. The way he looks at me with those piercing eyes—a look that makes my heart skip and my stomach flutter with butterflies.

In this moment, I don’t just miss him.

I crave him.

I crave his presence.
