Following on from my blog post "In Need of Advice: My anxiety ridden brain and a crush I can't contain (Part 1)" I give an update on what went on when Covid hit. It has been a while since I wrote a blog post.
Sometimes things get in the way of your plans and you just find yourself slipping. That seems to regularly happen in my life. I also seem to have so many ideas and make plans and yet never go through with it.
I find myself in a happier position mentally than when I first started writing blog posts.
Obviously, there has been much drama with COVID and life.
But as much as COVID was a negative, I have found one big positive because of it.
For almost a whole year, I liked a guy. I would go into his work every few weeks, we would chat (he would start conversation and then try and get me to chat), getting to know each other a little as he assisted me, and then I would leave. From the moment he first helped me, and onwards, I constantly was shy, nervous and had the full 'butterflies in my stomach' moment every time I saw him.
Then COVID happened. During late last year I noticed the guy was missing. I had messaged his work email to no reply which was unlike him. After a lot of debating and thinking about whether it was creepy, I sent a friend request on Facebook. And he accepted. I quickly apologized for my lack of boundaries and explained that I had been worried when I saw he was gone and there was no reply to my enquiry. He then explained that COVID had hit so hard in our area he had left to work elsewhere.
Fast forward to now. As shy and nervous as I was, he and I get on well. We have a lot in common, including a terrible sense of humour and a great taste in music. He has become a really good friend and every day that we do talk I am grateful that I had that little nudge in the right direction from COVID, to message him.
Ironically, this is to get posted a year from the original post that I wrote about my crush on this guy.
Life sometimes has a way of bringing the things you need the most into perspective.
